Dear Dave,
Sorry for the delay...new parenthood really eats in to your free time... Your
shield has a simple division of blue and gold/yellow with an eagle (wings
spread) issuing in the crest above the shield.
I can create a digital image for you and e-mail it to you in your
preferred format.
All the best,

Hi Dave,
The shield listed on the family history scroll is somewhat generic, as it was
granted to a variant of your family name (the root name); Pizzone-from
Piccini. However, I did a litlle
research and found a shield in Reitstaps Armorial and substantiated in
Dizionario Storico Blasonico for a family of the name Pizzoli who had family
seats Bari, Milan, Naples, Calabria, Venise and Bologna. It is mentioned that
some members of this family (the branch that relocated to Southern Italy) used
the spelling Pizzolo. Their coat of
arms is much more complicated, but quite spectacular. I charge $15.00 per digitization and $10.00 per hard copy ($35.00
framed-special), should you want one to match your history scroll. I can
normally send a JPEG image within 72 hours of an order confirmation. Let me know how to proceed.

Tim

Hi,
My name is Frank Pizzolo. My Grandfather came here from sicily when he was 8 years
old. He had 12 brothers and sisters. I do not know many of them but my dad
aunts and uncles do. We have a very large family.Originally from Brooklyn N.Y.
some have moved out to Long Island. I have never heard of any one else with the
uncommon name before except relatives.

Hi Frank:
My name is Vin Pizzolo. Happy that you wrote to us. David Pizzolo (who you
addressed an email to) sent me a copy of your email. I am David's Uncle
Vincent(that he refered to) and I may be able to give you some information
about the Pizzolo's that may help.
Associated with this wing of the family, there are two Pizzolo families here in
the US. One family, which I am part of, originated from my father Frank
Pizzolo (Francesco born Oct. 9, 1901) and a Charlie Pizzolo(Placidino born
approx. 1903). Their father Onofrio Pizzolo (my grandfather) was from
Sicily in a section of Messina called Pace. They had 5 other brothers:
Santo
Peppino
Nunzio (moved to Genoa)
Salvatore
Angelino (moved to Genoa and still alive)
From what I can remember, they had cousins that were here in the US that your
father may know: Josephine Pizzolo (married name Cucinotta) Anna Pizzolo
(married name Greco)
So that I can get an idea of which generation you are from, can you please let
me know how old you are. Also how old is your father and grandfather? Do you
know any of the names of your grandfather's 12 brothers and sisters?
Thanks,
Vin Pizzolo

Hi- my name is Christopher Pizzolo. I live in Nassau

week.
I am 34 years old. I graduated from St. John's University, Queens Campus,
in 1989. Thereafter, I went to Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Michigan
and graduated in 1994. I am admitted to the New York and Florida
Bars. I currently work in the Nassau County Family Court as a Senior Court
Attorney.
So, where did you get the information on our family name. I did not even
realize there was a Pizzolo crest. I'd like to get a clear image of
it. I tried to download if from your web site but it doesn't come out
clear.
Well, take care - I think Frank is trying to come up with some information on
our Family to send you.

FYI- My cousin Norman Pizzolo (from Astoria) wrote away to some organization in
Italy may years ago and was able to get a Family crest of the Pizzolo's.
Either I will get in touch with Norman or I'll look thru my files at home to
see if I have a copy of that report with the crest.
Thanks for doing a great job putting this information out to all of us. The
next good thing to do is start putting a Family Tree together. We can start
with a generic one and then ask other Pizzolo's to fill in where they fit. At
this rate, its going to be a big tree.

Dave - thanks for responding to my e-mail.
The following is what I know-
My Grandparent's were Carmello (Frank) Pizzolo and Lucia (Lucy) Pizzolo.
They had three children -
Angelo Pizzolo(70 + years young now. He looks the same as he did 15 years
ago.) Angelo, my uncle has 1 adopted son Jimmy Pizzolo and 2 daughters
(Lucille and Angela Pizzolo. Both are now married. Lucille's marrie name
is Klein. Angela's married name is Plante).
Ann Pizzolo is the second child. She, my aunt, married Nicholos Romano
and had 3 children. Joey, Nicky and Annie. They all still go by the
last name Romano.
Salvatore Pizzolo. This is my dad. He married Linda Jean Hamilton
and had 3 children. My brother Frank Pizzolo is the oldest. I,
Christopher Pizzolo, am the middle child (age 34), and we have a sister Dawn
Pizzolo. Dawn is now married, her married name is Capuano. Both
Frank and I are married. I have a son named Chandler Frank Pizzolo (age
3).
That's about all I know on the Pizzolo's of Long Island. I will try to
get more information from my Uncle Angelo and his daughter Lucille Klein,
Lucille is really into geneology and as a matter of fact is in the process of
putting together our family tree. I will tell her to contact you guys via
the net.
Lucille, is having a get together next weekend with all our first and second
cousins. We have all remained very close over the years. Our
respective spouses might ever say too close.
On another note. How would I go about setting up an e-mail account such
as "Chris@pizzolo.com" Please let me
know. I am would like to set up the account.
You can also send me e-mail at "cpizzolo@courts.state.ny.us" This is

Thanks for the update from Chris Pizzolo. This is all so interesting. I'd like

I found a book that I had sent away to a genealogy firm, some time ago, that
I'd like to show you. It tells a genealogy story and includes a part about the
Pizzolo family. I can lend it to you so we all will have the same info on the
family. Please call me and we can set up a time when I can pass it off to you

I still have not found the Crest info that my cousin Norman sent out. I guess I
will call him to get it for us.

Hi Chris:
Dave Pizzolo, my nephew, sent me a copy of your email below with the good
description of your side of the Pizzolo family. I'm so glad we are all getting
to know one another even if its just via email.
My name is Vin Pizzolo and I guess I'm in your father, Salvatore's generation.
I am 61 years old and like most Pizzolo, as you say, I think I still look like
I did 15 years ago (at least I feel that way).
I'll try to describe our side of the family, as you did, from your point of
view. Here goes:
===
Dave's Grandfather, my father, was Francesco (Frank) Pizzolo born outside of
Messina, Sicily Oct.9, 1901. He passed away in 1990. His wife (my mother) is
Mattia (Nuzza) Pizzolo born May 21, 1911 and still lives in Brooklyn (Bay
Ridge). She is affectionly known as Nana Nuzza. They had three sons:
1. Vin Pizzolo (born 2/9/40), that's me, has 2 children (Mark & Karyn) Both
are married. Mark(age 33)and his wife Debra have two children, Emma(age 4) and
Ian (age 1 1/2). Karyn (age 31) is married to Dan and their married name is
Kostovich. Vin's wife is Barbara. Vin was baptized with the name of his
grandfather, Onofrio.
2. Gasper (Gaspar) Pizzolo (born 5/12/45) has 2 children (David- who started
the WebSite- & Milena). David is married to Natalie. Milena is not married
and is seeing Tony.
3. Gene (Eugene) Pizzolo (born 3/15/47) has 2 children.

I would really like to talk to your cousin Lucille Klein about our families. I
seem to have a hanle on this and maybe we can find where we really come
together. I would love to see how she is coming with the family tree. I started
one but I keep running into time problems. Please ask her to call me in the
office during the day or at home at night so we can compare notes.
I am employed at The New York Mercantile Exchange and live in Holmdel, NJ.

Subject: Hello from another Pizzolo
Hi! I'm Linda
Pizzolo-Fitzgerald. My brother (John Pizzolo) sent the link to me. I was ASTOUNDED to find that,
not only were there other Pizzolos - but, that there was a web site! Seems
incredible, because growing up in
Throggs Neck, in the Bronx, NY, we would always look in the phone book
to see if there were any other Pizzolos
besides us. There was only one in all of
the Bronx. His name is Peter Pizzolo - - and we didn't know him. I
think my father actually contacted him once, figuring that the name didn't seem
to be a very common one, so we MUST be related to him somehow. But, he
said he wasn't.
Nevertheless, my dad will
certainly get a kick out of this whole thing too. He still has a few
relatives still in Italy (if they are still living) in the calabria region. A
cousin. He and his family were originally from Cicily though. They are
cousins to the Lisi family - also still living in Italy.
Anyway - your family photo is
great - you look like very nice people. Where do you live? Would
love to hear from you, have a screen name in connection with your site - and
send you some photos of the Bronx, New York, Pizzolos. :-) Ciao
for now.
P.S. I don't
actually hyphenate my name -- that's just for identification purposes in
writing to you.

Hello Vince, Dave,
I have forwarded this to my older brother, who remembers more than me about the family tree. But I do know that (on my fathers side) my family did come from Sicily. They had a castle there and the reason my Grandfather came here was not a good one. I think he was like a playboy or something like that, and in those days it was an embarrassment to them. Im not sure of course. Anyway, there are more of us I didn't tell you about. There were my fathers side, my uncle frankie, well, let me wait until my brother gets back to me. I don't want to mess it up and give the wrong info....
Good to know there are more of us out there!

Subject: My brother's email
Hi,
I'd found the website by just dropping in my surname in a search engine and
forwarded it to my brother Frankie and my sisters Linda and Patty. I have
been writing a family history of my side of the family for some time now, since
I feared that the next generation will have no idea of how anything came
about. Our lack of knowledge of other Pizzolo's stems from the fact that our
paternal grandfather, Giovanni Pizzolo, left Messina around the turn of the
20th Century and for some unknown reason "divorced" his family.
I have his original birth certificate issued in Messina dated 1872 which lists
his father as Francesco Pizzolo and his grandfather (my great-great grandfather)
as Vincenzo Pizzolo. In his thirties Giovanni married an 18 year old
Messinese girl (Chiara Lisi), in New York City (I have the original marriage
certificate). He never spoke of his family, not to his wife nor to his
children (three children: Frank Pizzolo [deceased last year, born around 1907];
Catherine Pizzolo [born 1926, died 2000] and my father Salvatore [born 1927,
still kicking]). In fact, when my father was a child he used to ask his
father (in that 19th Century Sicilian they all spoke) "How many uncles do
I have?" and was simply told to shut up. My grandfather, the silent
one, died in 1955 when I was just a couple of months old. We do know of
one brother of his, Carmelo, who came to the States for a visit before my
father's birth. In fact I have a photo of this guy. I understand he
got into trouble (with another man's wife) and had to flee back to
Sicily. There is very little information about my grandfather. By
trade he was a marble cutter. Since he was 55 years old at the birth of
my Dad, he was retired for almost all of my father's memory. But he did
work on the Empire State building, and a marble cross that graces a church on
E106th Street, Manhattan was made by Giovanni Pizzolo's hand. He adopted
the use of the name John for his entire time in the United States, and that's
what's on his tombstone. Judging by the names in your family, I'd say your
grandfather Francesco was very likely my grandfather's baby brother whom he
never met. I don't know if my grandfather was already in the U.S. by 1901
(I'd have to research the Ellis Island ship records to find out the exact date
of immigration) but I know he was nearly 30 years old by that time and couldn't
have gotten to know that baby. Well
this is a long email and could be a lot longer, but I figure I'd spare you the
rest till some other time. I need to scan the photo of Great Uncle
Carmelo Pizzolo, because in my opinion he bears a striking resemblance to you
guys, more than to us.
Peace,
John G. Pizzolo

how he found it -- but, what fun!
You are lovely! What a beautiful
picture of you and your boyfriend. As I said in my other note, It would be fun
to exchange photos. Since Pizzolo (with this particular spelling) doesn't
seem to be that common a name, do you suppose we could actually trace our
family lines back to the point where we would be related? Interesting!
I've attached a photo of me and my dad, Salvatore Pizzolo. Feel free to
add it to the site if you are going to start posting the pictures of other
Pizzolos who respond to Pizzolo.com.
