We held a small family experiment on Labor Day. We have five elementary schools in our school district. Each one has a fun, unique, and fairly new state of the art playground. We decided to visit each on for 30 to 40 minutes to decide which one we each like best......
Glencliff was a first time stop for all of us. We enjoyed the view and the spiders. The trip went south when Gabby was standing on a bar and lost her footing. She went straight down on the bar. There was pain. What did we ever do to you Glencliff? It didn't ruin the whole visit. Everyone really liked that playground....especially the tire swings.
Criag is a family favorite. We have a lot of history in this playground including a double fracture. It is still a great playground especially if you are into obstacle courses or monkey bars. Gillian just likes to meet and befriend perfect strangers. She walks up to a child, tells her name, asks if they want to play, and then they are best friends. It is kinda her modus operandi.
Stop #3:
Sorry Birchwood, no offense to you, but you are probably our least favorite playground. You are older with wood that can leave splinters. However, you have charm that some of the other playgrounds lack...You also have some very long straight tunnel slides that are enclosed. We like that. However, you are just too far away from our house which is why you are not our favorite. It is strange to remember that we almost bought a house in your neighborhood.
Stop #4....and good Lord I am already tired:
Hillside....we cannot stop singing your praises. You are our favorite playground when it comes to layout and attractions. You are just plain fun with your monkey bars and bumpy snake thingy. For Labor Day - Dave and Nat liked you best....however you are lacking one important thing - shade.
Stop #5:
Rosendale you are a force to be reckoned with. You have everything that one would want. You are a priveleged playground. We have nothing bad to say about you except that Hillside is more fun. If it had been a very hot and sunny day, the outcome may have been different. We do like your dinosaur staircase and your old school merry go round. Hats off to you.
Isn't it fitting that our summer sandals gave out right on the last day of summer. Happy Labor Day!

PS - For the record....the girls loved every single stop and couldn't pick a favorite playground. They did give us the "Best Mom and Dad in the World" awards for taking them to play all day.

This looks like it was a very fun day! That eight legged freak scared me right off the chair.
