Soccer Finale - Blue vs Red

We had our last soccer game today, and we played the red team. Pretty funny considering elections are only 72 hours away. Sorry....we didn't keep score so I can't tell you who won. Gabby scored big time. We were so proud of her. Afterwards, we had a big party over at the coach's house. We are really going to miss this team and Scott (Gabby's coach).

Presidential Election 2008

The girls went with us today to vote. It was Gillian's first time going to vote at a Presidential election. It was also our first time to vote in our new town. When we arrived the person manning our voting booth was our neighbor, Barry! Gabby doesn't really remember going with us to vote during the last election for president...she was only 19 months old.

Ice Skating: Week 5

There are only two skating sessions left. The lessons went really fast. The girls have learned so much, and they love to skate. We love it, too. It has been a great activity to do together. Recently, Aunt Lena, Uncle Tony, and Bella gave us this Color Chace game. I took this picture of Gillian right after she beat me. She was so proud.

Poetry in the Park

Gabby took part in her school's annual poetry recitation. It was really cool. They transformed the gym into a park. Everyone snapped after the reading of the poems. It brought me back to my college days. Gabby recited the following poem.

Waiting For a Rainbow
by Judy Lalli

I'm waiting for a rainbow.
I'm waiting for the sun.
I'm waiting for the rain to stop.
So I can play and run.

I know I should be patient,
But waitings such a pain.
I guess I'll have to pass the time appreciating rain.

Train Conductors

The theme at Gillian's school today was Go, Slow, and Stop. They made little traffic lights, sang songs, pretended to drive trains, and played with blocks to make roads and drove matchbox cars. The matchbox cars were a huge hit...especially with the girls. While we were walking to our car after class...we saw a whole herd or swarm or gathering of furry caterpillars.

afternoon snack/art project

Here are some creations from this afternoon's snack. Gillian was very proud of her little smiley face cookie, and Gabby was making cool faces and flower art cookies.

Reindeer Kisses

We saw some reindeer today near our house. They were very cute.. and one tried to kiss(bite) Gillian! Special. It took us awhile to convince Gillian that it was a kiss. Even though he never came into contact with her, she knew his intention.

Dental Milestone

Gabby discovered her first loose tooth today. She was so excited that she called and emailed a ton of people to let them know that she has a slightly loose tooth. I can't believe that tooth wants to leave already. He seems like he just got here.

Bedtime or Anytime Stories

Here are two recent big hit bedtime stories at our house. Gabby loves Pinkalicious! She actually fell asleep with it in her hand the other night after we bought it at the book fair. I've seen this book around for a long time, and never had the chance to read it to the girls until recently. It was an instant favorite. Gabby is even talking 6th birthday party...Pinkalicious. The other day when I took Gillian to the library, I asked her what kind of book she wanted to look for at the library. She told me, "Monster Mash". Gabby had been singing Monster Mash at school during October. Gillian has been obsessed with the song. As soon as we went into the library, this book, Goodnight Goon, was on display. Gillian quickly claimed it and dubbed it her "monster mash" book. If you like Goodnight Moon or you don't....you will probably like this book. It was a breath of fresh air to read Goodnight Goon after reading Goodnight moon...for the thousandth time.

Indoor Soccer

Gabby decided to join indoor soccer that meets a few times a month through February. Today was the first day. It was a madhouse. You can't tell from this picture, but there were about 60 kids and two coaches. She still had fun. The coaches made them run like mad. They worked on skills...dribbling the ball...and they played lots of games. Gabby liked sharks and minnows, but these pictures below were from soccer kickball.

Ice Skating: Week 6

There is only one more week for ice skating. The girls are really going to miss it. I can't believe how much they have learned in 6 lessons. Here they are with their little boy buddies (little ice skating boyfriends).

Drum practice

Here are a couple shots and a video of Gabby practicing her drums. She made this drum solo up for the blog. Gillian was trying to get in on the action.

Thanksgiving in Staten Island

We spent the weekend in Staten Island celebrating with the family. We stayed with Aunt Mandy and Uncle Steve. Aunt Mandy made a tooth cake in celebration of "Mr. Wiggley". She also gave the girls a cool Crayola Magic lightup paintbrush kit. It was really cool. We had a huge Thanksgiving dinner at Aunt Lena and Uncle Tony's house. The girls got to play with Bella all day long. They decorated Gingerbread cookies and did edible watercolor painting on brownies. Aunt Lena made a huge cupcake to celebrate Gillian and Isabella's Half birthday. After dinner, we decided to have our own Macey's Thanksgiving Day parade. The girls marched and danced around in costumes. It was hilarious.

Last Skating Lesson

It was fun while it lasted, but the skating lessons are over for now. Both the girls are a bit sad. They really loved it. The rink has open skate times everyday, so we can still go just for fun. Here are some final shots from the lesson. Gabby is practicing on one foot and doing swizzles. Gillian is skating a bit on her own.

Daily Happenings

Here is Gillian with her most prized possession....her taggie. It lost it's first tag the other day. She has been sleeping with it...and carrying it around the house since her first Christmas. We were going to try to sew it back on, but we decided to put it under her pillow for the Taggie Fairy. Less work for mom. She and Dave were having a great time playing this BooBah game the other night. Dave was getting quite a workout (completing all the assigned physical tasks) while Gillian moved all the BooBahs around the board. Gabby created this bunny on the magna doodle...out of the blue. We thougth it was pretty good. I couldn't do that.

Important Christmas Message

Today's events

The girls hung out with Dave today and watched movies of themselves when they were babies. Gabby had soccer this afternoon. Here is a picture of her with one of her coaches (that she loves)- Morgan.
